The dictionary tells you how many words there are. The thesaurus tells
you how many ideas there are. Divide the dictionary by the thesaurus,
and you get a measure of how overgrown language is. Oh, but it's worse.
Most words have multiple senses. Imagine the Utopia if we could free
that wasted intellectual power to solve problems!

Nah. The... exuberant nature of language is probably due to the
limitations of what brains can do efficiently. Neurons are fancy but
slow.
