7 July 2012 - even hereafter

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

Anybody know who Sappho was talking about when she wrote “I think men will remember us even hereafter”? Was it me? It’s been so long I’ve forgotten. Or was it some politician intent on leaving a legacy?

clue:

The Sappho line is the only surviving fragment of a lost poem. Nobody knows who it refers to. Translation by Edwin Marion Cox, 1925.

give me a clue so sweet and true
