8 November 2010 - medicine

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

Medicine is what you do instead of repairs when you have to debug a machine that you don’t understand. Lately many are interested in the interaction between coding bugs and invading bugs, but I’m more interested in the design bugs. If you’re optimized for a broken world, doesn’t it make sense that you should be correspondingly broken?

clue:

coding bugs - bad genes (mutations and rare bad alleles)
invading bugs - infectious agents
design bugs - bad stuff that evolves anyway

take oh take this clue away
