How to Write a Novel, Lesson Five

The most difficult part of writing a novel, as authors the world over have discovered through painstaking trial and error, is writing it. You have to press all those keys, and it’s not enough to clear levels, no, you actually have to form words and sentences. Your true enemy is not the romantic image of the evil editor but rather the dastardly word counter, which you must defeat fair means or by typing faster than you can think.
