The camera is an information weapon. The security cameras appearing in cities around the world represent an alarming concentration of power in the hands of the authorities, a concentration that can be countered only by the Internet. Someday, we the people will be able to force through laws to require that all public surveillance cameras are webcams. In the meantime, tapping the feeds is our only defense, and electricians are on the front line. Ah, do you suppose that’s why?
