If fiddling with the knobs doesn't work, give it a kick. Electing an authoritarian is a sign that democracy is working as designed, turning itself off when it is perceived as useless. What we really need is a sensible candidate before it is too late, but since when has any candidate been sensible? Was the last one Honest Abe?
