Trump, it is important to analyze, is not duplicitous but triplicitous. He doesn't expect you to believe his lies, and doesn't care if you do. He doesn't want you to be taken in by his false claims, but by the false worldview implicit in them. It's a strikingly sophisticated propaganda technique, especially for a guy who can't think three thoughts in a straight line. Its only limitation is that it works on the majority of voters, which is those who don't care about straight lines.
