Platonic realism is irrelevant. It does not matter whether you believe that the objects of a theory are real or imaginary; the only differences are in your mind and in the words you use, secondary effects. The theory works the same either way. But then, just as atomic nuclei stick together because of secondary effects between nucleons, and molecules stick together because of secondary effects between atoms, and friction occurs because of secondary effects between molecules, science exists because of secondary effects.
