Mind control has always worked by homogenization. Schools teach a uniform curriculum and try to standardize their students; political movements spread simplified narratives; empires suppress deviation and physically move their citizens around to make regions more alike. And it never worked! Empires fall! But now comes the big data age, when people can be controlled individually and invisibly by guiding their attention—everyone will arrive at their own views, as directed, and since every person is known, so is the population. Finally, world government we can believe in!
