Nuclear Wasteland or Same Old Same Old

Is modern war more destructive? In WWII, it took around 3 years to retune a national economy to full war production. Today, with international supply chains and narrower specialty skills, it might take longer. In a major war, according to analysis I’ve seen, the high tech weapons—missiles and tanks and whatever you use—will be lost or used up in under a year. It would be back to rifles and artillery. So what’s the problem? A long war would be hardly worse than WWII, and we lived through that just fine.
