Return to the Past

The future utopia may be fine in itself, but how do we navigate to there, when today productive human labor is a basic organizing principle of society? Past transitions, like the Neolithic Revolution and the Industrial Revolution, have been disorderly and unpredictable, with a lot of wars. If the Robot Revolution comes and nobody has a better idea than universal basic income, then the owners of capital will eventually capture the government and become medieval despots, if not 1984-style Big Brother.
