Diversity training is an excellent way to keep those stupid outsiders
out where they belong. You look to the world as though you are trying
to make progress: “Look, we’re teaching our employees about
unconscious bias, that will help.” Meanwhile, the actual effect is to
activate stereotypes and strengthen them.

Activating stereotypes makes them stronger. Diversity training has to
activate stereotypes to talk them down. What do you think happens when
you apply a cognitive tool to an unconscious reaction that does not
depend on cognition?
