If quasar jets are artificial, then what are they for? Well, galaxies tend to line up in filaments, and lately it’s been noticed that quasar jets tend to point along the filaments, or in other words, not into empty space but in the general direction of other nearby galaxies. They could be part of an intergalactic transport system. If the aliens are anything like humans, though, then they’re probably neighboring civilizations demonstrating to each other their capability for Mutually Assured Destruction.
