The appeal of insurance is that when you trip and conk your noggin, everybody pays for it (not you). The appeal of groupthink is that when you all trip, it’s everybody’s fault (not yours). The appeal of the European Central Bank is that your government’s broken finances pull everybody’s behind, so that all Europe goes over the cliff together.
