How to Predict the Future

Europe, a small cape on a large continent and made up of mismatched parts, is always off balance and threatening to fall—sometimes it does fall. But the agility Europe needs to keep on its feet is also what made it a world leader first in arts and science, later in economic power, and today in social organization. Now let’s move from the European fall to the Arab Spring: Isn’t the Middle East always off balance too?
