6 August 2011 - dunce dunce

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

Nowadays fashion moves fast, and we turn to new video games more often than we turn the compost. Sometimes we forget that the greatest games are eternal. I’m thinking in particular of the ancient game whose basic moves go somewhat like this:

Player 1: I just realized, you’re an idiot.
Player 2: If you think so, you must be dumber than I ever imagined.

This game of dunce dunce revelation, based on accurate timing and the desire to look cool in one’s own eyes, is older than stone tools and reveals basic truths about human nature. That’s why it’s so depressing to see it still played in capitals around the world.
