23 April 2011 - flush your DNA

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

The Surveillance Society is Voluntary

Have you ever stopped to think that you flush DNA samples down the drain every day? Lately electric companies have been installing smart meters for efficient energy management, which as a side effect tell them every household’s daily activities in minute-by-minute detail. Under U.S. law, people are accorded privacy when they have a legal expectation of privacy, and who could expect privacy in Facebook world? Bearing that in mind, how long do you think it will be before sensor packages start appearing in the sewer pipes?

That’s easy—never. People already carry cell phones that track them in real time.
