15 July 2010 - the cloud lesson
< yesterday --
tomorrow >
The important difference between modern cloud computing and
old-fashioned yawn-prone on-demand computing is that the cloud
does not promise to work. Any particular cloud computation
might stop in the middle for no reason, or because somebody
topped your bid, and it’s up to you to cope. No yawns! The
theory must be that promising less will leave more room for
hype. Pay attention, government of Japan! The cloud lesson
is for you!
