What is sleep for? That’s a silly question; it’s like asking what clothing is for. Any adaptation that ancient has accumulated an attic full of aims. It’s more useful to ask what the largest effects are. clue:

The most basic purpose of both sleep and clothing is to reduce energy needs.

give me a clue so sweet and true
