I’ve figured out a good way to fund the new stimulus bill. Do you know the Wall Street proverb “Buy the rumor, sell the news”? That strategy can only work if other people also know the proverb and follow it—in other words, it’s a form of covert collusion. All those hair-trigger fat cats should be busted for insider trading. Their fines will easily be enough to keep the rest of the economy afloat.

Front-page headlines surprised me today by saying the stock market’s response to the stimulus package was to go down. That’s alarmist journalism—the market’s reponse was to follow the proverb.
