17 November 2006 - bugs

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

A bug can be defined only in relation to a specification. But it’s not only software that’s full of bugs; when people write specifications, they are full of bugs too, bugs relative to our intentions. You might suppose that this traces back to a bug in the human mind, but it depends on how you think minds ought to work. Personally, I think it’s great that people make so many mistakes—otherwise, what would I make fun of them for?
