19 October 2006 - genocide 2
< yesterday --
tomorrow >
Where I live, it is fall and the annual genocide of the leaves
is underway as the trees murder their offshoots. School has
started, and paper makers carry out a genocide of the trees
for the students, who complain that early morning classes
constitute genocide. But the worst is the genocide of the words.
clue:
“Genocide” is becoming overused to the point that its meaning
is shifting. It is going the way of “literacy”, which now
means “something I think you should learn”.
give me a clue so sweet and true
