26 June 2006 - public relations

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

I’m proud to be an American, because America invented public relations. The context: An expansive expensive architecture of surveillance and control. The event: Seven bozos, trying to recruit new bozos, let it leak that they are not proud to be Americans, and get arrested. The headlines, after the Attorney General’s announcement: Attack Worse Than 9-11 Prevented! Full Ground War Against the United States! When we think Bush is saying “nukular”, it’s just the speech impediment; what he means is “toujours l’audace!”

clue:

“L’audace! L’audace! Toujours l’audace!” — attributed to Frederick the Great and quoted by Patton
