Dangerous Precedent

Reports say that over 500,000 people showed up to the Live 8 show here in Philadelphia. That’s enough people to topple a regime, if they wish to and provided Napoleon doesn’t appear. Instead, they were brought together for a cause most of them don’t much care about, and they accomplished having fun, getting sunburned, and grumbling about the overwhelmed city transit system which took hours to carry them home again. Imagine what vast changes could be wrought by the crowd for a goal they believed in passionately, like, say, eliminating taxes or exterminating bothersome neighbors. The world would be unmade.
