26 December 2002 - starve North Korea

< yesterday -- tomorrow >

military analyst: North Korea’s stated goal for decades has been the communization of the Korean peninsula, whether by peaceful means or violent.
Kim Jong Il: Preferably peaceful.
military analyst: Where “peaceful” means that somebody else carries out the violence.
Kim Jong Il: I long for nothing more than to enjoy the gentle pitter-patter of shells exploding in downtown Seoul.
military analyst: Few Americans realize that North Korea, population 22 million, has twice as many ground troops as the U.S. But they still can’t win a war against the South.
Kim Jong Il: If only the cursed Americans would stand out of the line of fire!
military analyst: But the stronger economy wins in the long run.
Kim Jong Il: Economy? What do you mean by that?
military analyst: So what the heck—let’m spend money on nukes, that’ll only starve ’em out quicker.

clue:

The facts given by the military analyst are well-accepted, even the North Korean interpretation of the word “peaceful”.

give me a clue so sweet and true
