Procrustes could never have guessed. Today we’re born in Procrustean
hospitals, go to Procrustean schools, and deal with a Procrustean
Department of Motor Vehicles. Yet we’re still all different from
each other.

The mythical Procrustes was famous for his one-size-fits-all bed. If you’re
too tall, you’re cut to fit; if you’re too short, you’re stretched.
